With Minimserver, upmpdcli and MPD, I have now managed to set up an ideal music server. I have used MPD (mainly in conjunction with ncmpcpp and MPaD as clients) for about three years and I am very happy with its stability and sound quality.īut its hard-wired, non-customizable system of tags is almost unusable for classical music. My main motivation for using Minimserver is its ability to support browsing classical music collections. Just unzip into Plugins directory - in the end the "top-level" Plugins directory should look exactly the same as the present Cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins directory in terms of contents and subdirectory levels.I am completely new to Minimserver.
MPD MINIMSERVER INSTALL
I admit I am pondering what happens in the event of LMS armageddon, where there is no internet support, or some plugin websites are no longer supported, but I still need to be able to be able to install LMS from scratch if I have to.As I said before "The LMS subdirectory Plugins (usually at same level as nf) and is for manual installed user plugins."ĭo not manually linstall anything into the Cache/InstalledPluigins because if plugin manager thinks it did'nt install it - plugin manager may delete it - the InstalledPlugins directory belongs wholly and entirely to plugin manager. cache/DownloadedPlugins? As I understand it you have changed your folder structure - I haven't, so I'm looking at /var/lib/squeezeboxserver and folders within that.
MPD MINIMSERVER ZIP FILE
What is the answer to my original question? Where should I extract a plugin zip file to if I want (or need) to install one manually? Could I put the extract, or even just the zip, in. I admit I am pondering what happens in the event of LMS armageddon, where there is no internet support, or some plugin websites are no longer supported, but I still need to be able to be able to install LMS from scratch if I have to.

MPD MINIMSERVER DOWNLOAD
The cotents of Cache/DownloadedPlugins is also transient - it is where plugin manager will download a plugin "package" from repository before installing it.Ī key file for Plugin manager keeping track of which plugins are installed (I think) is the file Cache/plugin-data.yaml - if this is messed up it can result in plugin manager installed plugins being deleted.I'm still a bit puzzled. The Cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins directory may be deleted (it is in Cache) so I think you are mixed up which "Plugins" directory. The "top level " Plugins directory is not touched. I've searched this forum but failed to find instructions.Ĭan someone help me? What is the correct procedure for manually install a plugin zip? The plugin stays installed in /var/lib/squeezeboxserver/Plugins, which I believe is incorrect. I thought that one was meant to copy the zip to /var/lib/squeezeboxserver/Plugins, and unzip it there, expecting LMS to copy it all to /var/lib/squeezeboxserver/cache/Installed/Plugins and delete the version in /var/lib/squeezeboxserver/Plugins.
MPD MINIMSERVER HOW TO
I'm sure there must be an easier way, but I have clearly been labouring under either old information or misapprehension about how to do this. I have previously gone through a rather convoluted process using a local apache web server, copying parts of lms_extensions.xml to my own repo list, changing the plugin url to a local one, and then adding the local repo to the plugins page.

I then thought I should try and install a plugin manually, just to ensure I know how. As a precaution against third party websites becoming unavailable I downloaded the plugin zips I use most often (using lms_extensions.xml as the source of the urls).
